Landscaping and Lawn Care QuickBooks Cleanupand the week the feed must name
A route list that never meets the bank is a loop left open, no matter how finished the yards look.

What "ties" means on a lawn route
The bank feed is a list of what cleared. The route list is a list of what you believe you did and what you believe you are owed. A month is finished when those two can be read together without a shrug. Deposits match customers. Money out matches payroll, fuel, and the dealer. Tax you collected is still sitting in a liability, not in the operating cash you are about to spend.
A deposit that never meets the route list can sit in the feed for weeks with a memo that says nothing but a processor name. The kitchen table after the boots come off is where that unnamed deposit becomes obvious. We want the feed and the list to name the same week. Until they do, the month stays open, even if you already mowed every yard you can remember.
A feed will post the same deposit twice when a connection hiccups. The month is not done while the duplicate is still in sales. Lawn companies see this often because so many payments are small and similar. Two deposits of the same Tuesday should make you suspicious, not proud.
Anything still open from an old season gets one of three endings. Leave it out, void it, or issue it again. A check to a repair shop from last spring should not haunt the reconciliation in October. Ghosts make a good week look short. Clearing them is how you come to trust the number you are about to use for a truck payment.
Unnamed money stays visible
When a deposit has no story yet, we do not guess it into sales to make the page pretty. It waits on the balance sheet, where an owner can see the open question, until the route list or a receipt says what it was. That waiting is the whole point. A cleanup that hides the unknown inside profit has not cleaned anything. It has chosen a mood.
The same patience applies to a card you did not know was still open, or a processor account that holds money for a few days. A hold is neither income nor a loss. It is timing. Lawn routes live on timing. Winter cash, processor holds, and a mower on a payment plan can all hit the same month. They are three different ideas, and the feed will not label them for you.
Sales tax you have collected and not sent is one of those ideas. It should be obvious on the page before the twentieth, because that money is not yours to use for blades. A company that is behind on filing still needs the liability to exist. Pretending the tax was never collected makes the profit look better and the problem look smaller, which is the opposite of a close.
Bring the feed and the route list. If they disagree, that disagreement is the work, not a reason to be embarrassed. The route says what you did. The feed says what moved. We read them until they describe one week.
Send the week that will not tie
Say which month the feed and the list refuse to share.
You will be talking to the Steven Palmieri practice.
